Files are removed if they haven't been downloaded in a while. The exact window depends on how you uploaded:
Every download resets that timer back to the full window, so an actively-shared file can stay up indefinitely on the free tiers too, it just needs to actually get downloaded now and then.
They're separate. Link expiry is a fixed deadline you choose at upload time (24h, 7 days, or any custom duration on Pro) - once it passes, the link stops working no matter how recently it was downloaded. Auto-deletion (above) is based on inactivity and only kicks in if a link has no expiry set. A link with no expiry and no downloads for the retention window will still get cleaned up.
Yes, actually. Free and anonymous downloads are throttled to about 8 MB/s to keep bandwidth costs predictable across everyone sharing that tier. Pro downloads aren't throttled at all.
There are two separate kinds of limit: how much data you can move in a day, and how many separate files you can upload or download in a day. See the pricing page for the exact numbers per tier. Both reset on a rolling basis, not at a fixed clock time.
Not by default. Pro accounts can optionally set a total-download cap on a specific link when uploading, once that many downloads happen the link stops working, regardless of the daily limits above.
Pro accounts can pick a custom link name at upload time instead of the random one everyone else gets, for example blutobox.com/f/my-project-files instead of a random string.
No. File pages are never indexed by search engines, regardless of plan.
A session cookie to keep you signed in, and a short-lived cookie to remember you've unlocked a password-protected link. If you see ads on some pages, those come from Google AdSense, which sets its own cookies, see the Privacy Policy for details. Nothing else tracks you.
If you've lost your password, use the forgot password page, a reset link will be sent to your email. If you never verified your email after signing up, you won't be able to log in until you do, check your inbox (and spam folder) for the verification email.
Every file page has a Report button for copyright and abuse complaints. Reports get reviewed, and valid copyright notices result in the file being removed. See the Terms of Service for the full copyright and counter-notice process.
Yes, there's a small CLI tool for anonymous uploads, same limits as uploading from a browser without an account. It's in the cli/ folder of the repository.
New uploads get blocked until you free up space by deleting something, or upgrade to Pro for a bigger total. Files you already have stay untouched either way.
Any file page for a PDF or text-based file (.txt, .md, .json, and similar) has a "Generate AI summary" button, useful for checking what a file actually contains before downloading it. It's not currently supported for APKs, ZIPs, images, video, audio, or other binary file types, there's no readable text in those for it to summarize, so the button won't appear on those file pages.
Clicking it uses up one of your daily AI summary uses, whether or not a summary already existed for that file, uses reset daily: 1/day if you're not logged in, 3/day on a Free account, 15/day on Pro.
A free tool at /adventure: an AI game master narrates a story. At each step you can click one of its suggested actions or type your own, and a meter (Trust, Health, Sanity, Suspicion - whatever fits the story) tracks how things are going based on your choices. Reaching one end of the meter wins the story, reaching the other ends it - start a new adventure to try again. No two playthroughs are the same, and it's kept family-friendly (no explicit or graphic content) regardless of what a player tries to type.
Some moments are tense enough that only the suggested choices are available - no time to type something else. Your adventures are saved as a list you can reopen anytime - starting a new one doesn't delete the others. You can save up to 2 at once if you're not logged in, 5 on Free, 15 on Pro (delete one to free up a slot). If you're logged in, they're tied to your account and work from any device; if not, they're remembered on that browser only. Each action you take (starting or continuing a story) uses one of your daily turns: 8/day if you're not logged in, 25/day on Free, 100/day on Pro.
A free tool at /ai/daily-character: one new AI-generated character revealed each day, the same one for everyone (like a daily puzzle) - a name, personality, and a short backstory. Pro accounts also see an AI-generated portrait of that day's character; Free and anonymous visitors see a locked preview instead.
Before the character's real traits are shown, you get one guess: pick which of 3 traits actually belongs to them (2 are decoys). You'll see how your guess compares to everyone else who played today. You can also ask the character a few questions - it answers in-character, and stays family-friendly no matter what you ask it. Clicking "Claim today's streak" counts that day toward a running streak, which resets if you miss a day. If you're logged in, you can turn on an email reminder that only fires when your streak is actually at risk of resetting.
You can save characters you like to a personal collection - up to 5 if you're not logged in, 20 on Free, 100 on Pro. Asking questions is limited per day (separate from the other AI tools' quotas): 3/day if you're not logged in, 10/day on Free, 30/day on Pro. Guessing, claiming, and saving are all free.
A free tool at /ai/trivia: 5 AI-generated trivia questions revealed each day, the same ones for everyone. Answer all 5, then see your score, the correct answers, and how your score compares to everyone else who played today. One attempt per day - answering builds a running streak, same as Daily Character's. No sign-up required, and there's no limit tied to plan tier since it's already capped at once a day by design.
